Increase predictability & efficiency in your product delivery

Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK) is a 2-day course that introduces people to good Kanban practices in the context of a Scrum team. Students will leave with a better understanding of what good Kanban looks like and a reinforced understanding around the importance of Scrum rules. The course will equip students with practical knowledge to increase predictability and efficiency without adding more bureaucracy.

Professional Scrum with Kanban will give you new ways to look at the events in Scrum and make them much more effective.  The course will also go over numerous flow based controls to make estimates quicker, easier, and significantly more reliable.

In general, scrum practitioners face two major challenges around Kanban:

  • The misinterpretation that the Kanban is different or at odds with Scrum.
  • The misinterpretation that Kanban is only for interrupt-driven work like maintenance or support.

Common myths debunked during class:

  • Kanban is a task board.
  • Work in process limits can not be changed or violated.
  • Kanban is a process change mechanism.
  • Scrum teams only benefit from Kanban within a sprint.

Through experiences, you'll learn the positive impact of introducing flow to Scrum’s Events (including inside and outside of Sprints) and the value of adding Kanban from the perspective of Scrum’s Roles. By the end of this course, you will how Kanban can be useful in solving core flow issues and evolving towards a continuous flow of delivery while continuing to benefit from the Scrum Framework.

Who should attend?

The PSK course is for all Scrum Practitioners who have a basic understanding of the Scrum Framework. If you are new to Scrum, you should read the Scrum Guide (www.scrumguides.org).  The course is particularly beneficial experienced Scrum Masters, looking to take their Scrum team to the next level of efficiency.  This course is perfectly appropriate for non-IT professionals who are would like to apply Scrum and Kanban in their context.

Certification

After completing a Professional Scrum with Kanban course, students receive credentials to take the Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK I) assessment and earn the industry-recognized PSK I Certification.  Students take the assessment on their own after class.
